Signs it's time to call an electrician

Electrical problems usually give warnings before they become dangerous. If you notice any of these, have it checked.

Breakers that keep tripping

A breaker that trips again and again is protecting an overloaded or faulty circuit. Resetting it repeatedly doesn't fix the cause.

Warm or discolored outlets

Outlets or switch plates that feel warm, buzz or show scorch marks can mean loose or damaged wiring.

Flickering or dimming lights

Lights that dim when an appliance starts, or flicker for no reason, can point to loose connections or an overloaded circuit.

An older or recalled panel

Some older panel brands, such as Federal Pacific and Zinsco, have known safety problems and should be evaluated.

Not enough outlets

Relying on extension cords and power strips, especially in kitchens and garages, is a sign your home needs more circuits.

Planning a big addition

An EV charger, heat pump, hot tub or remodel may need more capacity than your panel has today.

Smell burning or see smoke or sparks? If it's safe to do so, switch off the main breaker, leave the building and call 911. Once everyone is safe, call us to find and repair the problem.
